Now that we know the meanings of the symbols, let us unveil the woman.

“And I will put enmity between thee and the women, and between thy seed and her seed: He shall bruise thy head, and thou shall bruise his heel”. Gen. 3:15

The above prophecy was given the moment man sold himself into the kingdom of darkness, under the ruler ship of Satan, the devil. In the midst of that hopeless situation God declared hope to man. He made known to man His salvation plan. The plan to redeem man and restore him back to God was announced: A woman and her seed were ordained by God to carry out that assignment.
They were ordained to be God’s blessing to all the families of the earth (ref. Gen. 12:1-3).

Because of their God given assignment, this woman and her seed would become Satan’s number one enemies on earth.

But the woman’s seed will conquer Satan, and destroy his kingdom and bring freedom to all mankind.

Now think about how important this woman is to the nations of this world – “the mother of our freedom”. She was called to carry God’s blessing and hope for the nations. The hope of mankind was conceived in the womb of this woman.

Question 1:
Who is the woman? And who is her seed? In prophetic symbols, a woman represents a nation or a city (Jeremiah 6:2; Rev. 17:18) God in His infinite wisdom was to raise a nation through whom He would impregnate with His Word for her to carry that holy word till the time of delivery when the word becomes flesh and dwells among men. That Holy Seed of God would come as the Saviour, to save all men from the hands of Satan, the devil.

God sets His Plan in Motion:

The plan to restore man back to God was set in motion when Abraham was called by God to leave his country.

“Now the Lord had said unto Abraham, get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee. And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great, and thou shalt be a blessing, and I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee, and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed”. Gen. 12:1-3

When God called Abraham to get out of his country the first thing He had in mind was to create a new nation out of him. In other words, He called him in order to raise out of him the ‘woman’ whose seed is the gift and the blessing to the nations.

Question 2:
How did Abraham become a nation? The nation Israel was not born in Egypt. The Jewish nation was born the very moment Jacob the son of Isaac was born. The birth of Jacob marked the beginning of the nation - Israel.

Reference:
“This is the account of Abraham’s son Isaac. Abraham became the father of Isaac, and Isaac was forty years old when he married Rebekah daughter of Bethuel the Aramean from Paddan Aram and sister of Laban the Aramean. Isaac prayed to the LORD on behalf of his wife, because she was barren. The LORD answered his prayer, and his wife Rebekah became pregnant. The babies jostled each other within her, and she said, “Why is this happening to me?” So she went to inquire of the LORD. The LORD said to her, ‘Two nations are in your womb, and two peoples from within you will be separated: one people will be stronger than the other, and the older will serve the younger.” Genesis 25:19-23

In her delivery, Rebecca gave birth to two sons, namely, Jacob and Esau. Out of these two children who represent two nations according to God’s own words, one was chosen and named by God as His own nation to represent Him on earth. So in Jacob, God’s promise to His friend Abraham was fulfilled - “I will make of thee a great nation”. Gen. 12:2 Through Jacob, that promised nation was born. And the Almighty God who gave birth to that nation, also named her as Israel:

“And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day. And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob’s thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him. And he said, let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said I will not let thee go, except thou bless me. And he said unto him, what is thy name? And he said, Jacob. And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.” Gen. 32:24-28

Isra-el, this is the nation pre-ordained by God the Almighty to carry the burden of Salvation on her shoulders. “Salvation is of the Jews” said Jesus:

“The woman saith unto Him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet. Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship. Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worships the father. Ye worship you know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews”

Salvation came out of Israel. She is the ‘Woman’ who conceived in her womb, ‘the saving WORD’ of God - Jesus Christ, our Lord, and delivered Him to the entire nations of the world. Through Israel now we have the written word of God to know the true God and how to worship Him.

She therefore deserves to be supported and helped by the nations of the earth. Her battle is our battle and her pain is our pain. So the Almighty God who is her husband declares: “I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee”. Gen. 12:3a

SERMONS by Pastor Bernard Tackie

Sermons. What sayest thou of yourself? He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias.

I believe the best knowledge one should acquire in life is, first to know God and secondly to have a knowledge of him or herself.

Without knowing who you are you cannot fulfil your true destiny because of people’s opinion. Do not allow people to define you and label you. But know your definition in God’s Word. See yourself as God sees you.
